Before we draw the curtains on the year, please permit me to express our sincere appreciation to the 32 individuals who through donations ranging from N10,000 - N500,000, contributed 38.2% of our target requirement for Benola's 2023 Christmas Appeal with which, between 19th & 20th December, we effected Cash Transfers of N25,000 to 74 of Benola's CP families within and outside Lagos State.
This kind gesture at a time when everyone is facing huge financial challenges and the fact that many of them equally contributed substantially towards the success of our Deputy's wedding on 15th December 2023, really means a lot to us.
Meanwhile, there are over 700,000 individuals living with CP in Nigeria with over 80,000 of them in Lagos State alone. Still, the high level of stigmatization and lack of access in our society continues to limit their visibility.
We thank God that our advocacy efforts in the past 11 years, has emboldened many of them to start coming out and sharing their stories, but with that has come the stark reality of their hopelessness in a Nation with inefficient and in some cases, non-existent social services.
So once again, thank you all for helping us to make a difference and together, let's keep working to change the face of Cerebral Palsy and Disability Management in Africa!
