The Benola fourth family forum, an event that looked cloudy due to lack of prompt funding was a huge success by all standards. On this note I welcome you to another edition of the Benola Weekly newsletter. A lot has been going on and we are still very committed to keeping you informed.
The fourth family forum was a huge success with over 280 participants and this time we had more families than we had from past events and questions on the minds of all parents were answered by our panellists who were all experts in the treatment and management of people with disabilities.
Highlights of the events included the lecture presented by Titi Tade an Assistant Director at the Medical Social Services department of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) titled "My Special Needs Family". Uche, a Benola ambassador received wheelchairs on behalf of Opendoors special education centre, Jos. Two parents were given wheelchairs while prosthetics and authotists met with parents at the end of the forum to help with basic needs.
On behalf of our Advisory Board Chairman, Dr Tunji Funsho, and other members as well as our Program Planning & Implementation Team led by it's able Chair, Prof Afolabi Lesi, I wish to express our sincere appreciation to the 6 sponsors who gave between #50,000 & #250,000 or 52% and the 88 others who gave between #3,000 & #30,000 or 41% of our total requirements. We also appreciate those who sent messages of goodwill as well as the 18 Healthcare professionals and other volunteers who gave generously of themselves and in so doing, ensured that the families who attended Benola's 4th National Cerebral Palsy Family Forum were richly blessed.
