On Wednesday, 9th of July 2014, Members of the Advisory Board of Benola Cerebral Palsy Initiative led by the Chairman, Dr Tunji Funsho and the CEO, AVM Femi Gbadebo, visited the Lagos State Governor’s Office at Alausa, Ikeja on the invitation of His Excellency Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), who requested to know more about Benola’s vision for Cerebral Palsy in Africa.

At the end of the meeting which was held in a very cordial atmosphere, Governor Fashola expressed his admiration for the vision and the level of work that Benola had obviously done in the little time that the Initiative had been in existence. He then called on Benola not to relent on its effort, saying he looked forward to seeing the vision become a reality in the shortest possible time.
In closing, Governor Fashola on behalf of the State pledged to support Benola with a 14 seater bus and a portion of land in Lagos state for the Initiative to build a Centre for Cerebral Palsy and Assistive Technology. He also called on the initiative to come up with a cost effective training program on Cerebral Palsy and other childhood disabilities for relevant professionals in the state.

True to the word of the Governor, on 29th August 2014, at a brief ceremony in his office, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths and Social Development, Dr Dolapo Enitan Badru presented a brand new 14 Seater Joylong Bus to the Founder/CEO of Benola, AVM Femi Gbadebo, who received it on behalf of the Initiaitve.
In his address at the occasion, Dr Badru expressed the appreciation of the State Government for Benola’s effort at improving the lot children with CP and other childhood disabilities. He assured the initiative of the State’s continued support towards the speedy actualisation of Benola’s vision for Cerebral Palsy in Africa. Finally, and in keeping with the state’s vison of being a centre of excellence, he gave the assurance that the state would soon redeem its pledge of land for Benola’s Centre for Cerebral Palsy.
