Benola @ Gracity 2nd Inter-House Sport

On the 12th of February, 2015 Benola participated in the second inter-house sporting activities of Gracity schools 10, Soji Olagunji Street, Alpha Beach, Lekki, Lagos, a well established school which provides appropriate learning in a serene environment with experienced and committed staff. The event commenced at about 11:05 AM, a little behind schedules, with an opening prayer by pastor Ujah of Deeper Life Bible Church, Dolphin Ikoyi coupled with the national and school anthem.

The chairman of the occasion, AVM Femi Gbadebo Rtd. (CEO of Benola) gave an opening speech which focused on Cerebral Palsy, as well as other childhood disability, and the need for inclusion in all school.

balletdance The programe started with a ballet dance and match pass, by different houses represented in colors (Blue, Green, Red & Yellow).The competition itself featured a range of sports from 25 meters race, 200 meters boys & girls race, as well as egg & spoon race. Other events included the early to school, Picking the balls, Busting the balloon, Filling the bottle, and oversized shoe races, there were also relays and inter – school invitational relay races among the invited schools namely Hetal School, Eritoy School, & Troika.

Benola presented Nosbrite tooth paste (courtesy of Nosak) to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd positions in each category of the competitions. Other events of the competition were parents’ race and staff race. Gold, Silver & Brass medal were used to decorate 1st, 2nd & 3rd winners.

As a way of creating awareness and sensitization of Cerebral Palsy to the general public Benola also gave out gift packs containing fliers on “What is Cerebral Palsy”, copies of the 4th edition of “The Cerebral Palsy Eye” Magazine, Benola 2015 calendar & Lozenges (courtesy of Nosak) to parents and guest. Zenith bank Plc one of the organizations that graced the event also distributed branded T-shirts and pen.
