When we launched the Appeal for Cash Palliatives in lieu of Benola's 8th National Cerebral Palsy Family Forum about 5 weeks ago, it was with palpitations in our hearts because, the thought of raising ?4 Million to be shared in tranches of ?20k each to 200 Cerebral Palsy families and Adults, particularly when people are struggling to cope with the harsh realities of Covid-19, called for a huge trust factor from our Donors.
Even the Beneficiaries had their doubts as was clearly seen from their dismal turn out until the last week when we announced our reaching 95.3% of our target. But to the Glory of God, a staggering inflow of ?426,000:00 in the last 18hrs, we reached 106% of our target and after a hectic weekend sorting through 268 applications, payment commenced via online transfer on Monday, 17th August 2020 and by 12noon Thursday 20th August 2020, all 200 Beneficiaries had received their Cash Palliatives.
Was it stressful? Oh yes.
Was it worth the effort? Absolutely. Infact we are overwhelmed by messages of appreciation, some in voice notes, from the Beneficiaries.
