When the idea of a World CP Day Outreach at a primary school was first muted, I had my reservations because of my perceived fear that the information was likely to be above the understanding of children at that level. But luckily our PPIT insisted and even went out of their way to make it happen. And so on Wednesday 7th October 2015, Team Benola arrived Corona School, Mekhunwen Road, Ikoyi to the warm embrace of the Head of School, Amelia Dafeta, her teachers and about 300 excited pupils.
The icing on the cake was the surprise appearance of Mr Dotun Sulaiman, Chairman Corona Schools Trust Council, who arrived on time, listened attentively to our presentation and made contributions at the end of a brilliant Q & A Session which saw the students participating actively and asking pertinent questions like, "Why is there no cure" and "How does one communicate with a child who is non-verbal?" At the end, we left with a huge sense of fulfillment and look forward to more of such opportunities to talk create awareness about Cerebral Palsy. It was certainly a befitting way to wrap up our 2015 World CP Day activities. Finally, I wish to seize this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation for your kind contributions which made everything possible.
