A big Thank You to the 47 individuals who through donations ranging from N4,000 - N250,000, have contributed 43% of our target requirement for Benola's Christmas Appeal. While this may appear small to some, to us at Benola and considering the huge financial challenges at this time of the year, it is a big deal which we sincerely appreciate.
Meanwhile, for those asking why we keep doing what we do, the answer is simple;
There are over 700,000 individuals living with CP in Nigeria with over 80,000 of them in Lagos State alone, but the high level of stigmatization and lack of access in our society continues to limit their visibility.
We thank God that our advocacy efforts in the past 9 years, has emboldened and brought out hundreds of these families and adults from all over the country, but with that comes the stark reality of their hopelessness in a Nation with inefficient and in some cases, non-existent social services.
So Merry Christmas all and together, let's keep working to change the face of Cerebral Palsy and Disability Management in Africa!
